The definition of celebrate in the Oxford Dictionary is to show that a day or an event is important by doing something special on it. The interpretation of this may be different to each person.
To me, every new day, a glorious new sunrise painted across the skies, fresh breath and air in my lungs and another day to step up more into the calling on my life is a day worth celebrating. Society seems to only celebrate big, glitzy occasions. How many small, beautiful moments are you missing to celebrate? What if we started changing the narrative by celebrating the small, seemingly ordinary moments, amongst the bigger, glitzy occasions in our lives?
As my coaching practice will be turning one this coming weekend, that is a bigger occasion to celebrate. I will also be celebrating all the smaller steps it has taken me to get to this stage. I will forever be grateful that the words “You Matter” were planted in my heart from a little girl. I have kept them tucked in my heart, knowing that I would be able to understand the meaning of these words, in God’s perfect timing. I have been obedient to each step God has called me to during my life journey but always knew there was more. I have always had a heart for helping others. I am getting a clearer vision each day, but the full story will never be revealed to me because that is not how our God works. He is a lamp unto our feet, illuminating the next step for us to trust and to take. As we honour Him by being faithful to take the next step, then the next and the next, we will be able to look back, in awe, at what we have achieved. Imagine how boring life would be if we could see the whole picture of our lives. We would get in our own way and try to change things in our own strength.
As I look back over my lifetime, it is with gratitude, with eyes to now see why I had to go through some of my hardest storms, why some friendships fizzled out, why some friendships strengthened, why we had to move to a new town, why our girls chose to study far away from home. Each thread of my life has been perfectly weaved into the tapestry of my life to make me who I am today. The best news is the best is yet to come. God is calling me to more, to expand myself, to deepen what I am doing, to spread my net wider. I don’t know what the next season holds, but I celebrate being comfortable not knowing because I know the Author who holds the pen.
I am excited, expectant and so ready to receive more.
More of God’s goodness
More of what has been promised to me.
More collaboration.
More being a vessel for God to work through.
More, more and more.
I have completely opened myself up to what a God breathed future could look like for me. I am saying YES, Lord, here am I, send me.
May you celebrate each day of your life as the gift it truly is.
Much love always
Shan
